Dr. Anthony Patel is a highly skilled and patient-centered orthodontist who is at all times completely focused on the health and happiness of the people whom he treats. Through providing the most rewarding, effective, and beneficial care available, Dr. Patel places his commitment to excellence in orthodontics at the highest regard. His goal, above all else, is to provide each patient he sees with nothing but an orthodontic experience that exceeds his or her expectations. And to this end, Dr. Patel strives daily to meet and go beyond the challenges and needs of his patients while earning their confidence in his exceptional care and ability.
Education and Experience
Dr. Patel was born in Chicago, Illinois, and h attended Maine West High School in suburban Des Plaines. He went on to earn two Bachelor of Science degrees in both Biochemistry and Psychology with high distinction at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He then attended the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia where he was one of only two individuals out of a class of over 100 to receive both Doctor of Dental Medicine and Master of Science in Education degrees concurrently. Dr. Patel was also awarded a full scholarship for all four years of study by the United States Navy Dental Corps.
Dr. Patel was then sworn in as a Lieutenant and received his Advanced Education in General Dentistry certificate at the Naval Dental Center at Great Lakes, Illinois. As a result of his strong performance and extensive clinical training, he was chosen to serve a three-year tour as one of the lead dentists onboard the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln in Seattle, Washington. During his time in the Navy, Dr. Patel earned numerous awards, service medals, and commendations, including the title of Surface Warfare Officer.
Upon completion of his active duty military obligation, Dr. Patel attended the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at San Antonio (UTHSCSA), where he received his specialty training in orthodontics and was selected as the Chief Resident. He also continued his participation as a dental officer in the active reserve at Lackland AFB, where he was promoted to the rank of Major. His background in education allowed him to participate as a lecturer to dental students and his efforts lead his peers to create the Award for Excellence in Orthodontic Education in his name, which is presented annually by Dr. Patel to a graduating orthodontic resident. Dr. Patel currently donates his time to UTHSCSA as a Clinical Assistant Professor, where he spends a day every month teaching and supervising orthodontic residents in the use of the Damon® Smile.
Dr. Patel understands how critical it is for his patients to know that he stays current with ever-evolving trends, techniques, and technologies within the orthodontic field. He makes continuing education one of his greatest priorities, having earned over 1200 hours of educational advancement. He has earned Diplomate status from the American Board of Orthodontics, a title that is reserved for only the most clinically adept, knowledgeable, and dedicated orthodontists in the nation. Further, his treated cases and clinical research have been presented at a number of international meetings and seminars. Dr. Patel believes in helping people look and feel better, and all of his hard work and dedication are testaments to his commitment to bettering the lives of orthodontic patients.
Dr. Patel and his wife, Trusha, have lived in the Southlake/Keller area for over five years and have two young boys, Caden and Cameron, who make their lives immeasurably enjoyable. His most valued free time is spent with his wonderful family. Dr. Patel is a huge sports fan and you'll often find him out on the baseball and soccer fields with his boys. He is a die-hard Chicago sports fan and enjoys attending collegiate and professional sporting events, golfing, and working out. He remains faithful that he will live to see the day when the Cubs win the World Series!
